Product Overview
APC AP8868 is a high-capacity metered rack Power Distribution Unit (PDU) designed to meet the needs of data centers, server racks, network infrastructure, and any other systems requiring tight control and a reliable data distribution of power. Having a 10 kW rating, a high number of IEC C13 and C19 sockets, and real-time metering, it is simple to regulate power consumption, avoid overloading, and have a better understanding of rack power activity. To make the most of the energy you use, to keep things running, and to not have any surprises in your rack power configuration, the AP8868 is designed to do so.
Key Features and Benefits
-
Real-time Power Monitoring - Displays volts, amps, real power (kW) and energy (kWh) and allows you to see the current usage and past usage with embedded logging. This assists in planning capacity and identifying overload risk.
-
High Outlet Density - Provides 42 total IEC outlets (36 C13 + 6 C19) in case you have numerous gadgets that require you to use additional PDUs.
-
Space-Saving 0U Vertical Form Factor - Mounts directly on the side of racks, which does not use any racked units (0U), thereby saving rack space to add more servers and equipment.
-
Networked Management and Alerts -Encompasses network interfaces (Ethernet, SNMP) to monitor and control remotely, and optional alarm limits to notify of circuit overload or unusual conditions.
-
Locking Receptacles and Safety Measures - IEC outlets are locking in nature to allow cords to break free accidentally; resettable circuit breakers are useful to recover fast during overloads.
-
LCD Display & Environmental Monitoring Port - Local display to instantly view load/voltage data, port to externally mounted temperature/humidity sensor to monitor the environmental conditions in the rack.

Product Information
APC AP8868 NetShelter Metered Rack PDU is created to serve as a solid backbone in supporting a dense rack environment with increased visibility and control. The product delivers up to 10 kW of power over dozens of IEC outlets, and C13 and C19 devices are supported. Since it is a 0U side-mounted PDU, you do not lose any standard rack units with which you can deploy servers, storage, or other networking devices, nor do you lose power distribution space.
Management is a strong point. You will be able to watch electrical measurements (voltage, current, power, energy) in real time and history (through embedded log memory) through network ports (Ethernet, SNMP, etc.). This aids in capacity planning, anomaly (e.g., overloading) detection, or proactive response prior to the criticality of a problem. The addition of the local LCD panel makes it easier for technicians to conveniently check the load metrics. Temperature/humidity environmental sensors are available and can be plugged in to offer ambient condition monitoring.
Mechanical design will involve locking outlets to prevent accidental disconnection of cords and breakers that are resettable in case of an overload, and mounting hardware (rack brackets, etc.). The input uses a CS8365 inlet. The cord length is ~1.82 m. The PDU is easy to handle and still strong, with a net weight of about 8.5 kg.
The operating conditions are general and can be installed in most areas and even in colder climates, -5 °C, and even higher temperature conditions, + 60 °C, and storage can be further. Relevant EMC, safety, and industrial certifications are provided to allow compliance with the enterprise and data center usage. The warranty is 2 years, which is an assurance of reliability.
