Samsung OM46B belongs to Samsung's OMB Series of in-window / outdoor signage displays that are engineered to operate in the high-lighting and adverse environmental conditions of storefront windows. Its Full HD VA high contrast panel provides bright images with clear colors, and with 4,000 nits of brightness, it can be used even in the sun.
Designed to be operational around the clock (24/7), this model has protective hardware applications like an IP5X-rated dust resistance and temperature control to avoid overheating. Sensors (ambient light and temperature) are also fitted in the unit to enable it to change automatically and maintain performance.
Design-wise, it is very slender in depth (approximately 54.5 mm) and bezel, and it is also befitting of smooth window designs. It also provides landscape and portrait mounting on a mechanical frame and a conventional 400x400 VESA pattern that is flexible.
Software-wise, it is powered by Tizen OS (version 5.0) and has an integrated signage player and other features such as auto change of source, recovery upon input failure and built-in WiFi to deliver remote content. The connectivity provides two HDMI 2.0 in points, USB, audio out, and net (RS-232 / RJ-45), which provides the integrators with the possibility of both media input and remote control.
Power demand is high since the brightness (usually 185 W, maximum 350 W) is large, and thus installation requires firm power planning and thermal requirements. In sleep mode, the power consumption is reduced to approximately 0.5 W.
