The OmniConverter G/Sx is a compact, unmanaged Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch designed to extend network distances using fiber optic cabling. It offers a versatile combination of Gigabit fiber ports and 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 copper ports, making it ideal for various network edge applications. The device intelligently forwards frames based on MAC addresses and features a Directed Switch mode to optimize multicast traffic, preventing unnecessary flooding of network ports. Models with dual fiber ports provide enhanced reliability through redundant uplinks with sub-50ms restoration, or can be utilized for daisy-chaining multiple switches or as additional switch ports. Furthermore, Dual Device mode allows a single G/Sx unit to function as two independent and isolated Ethernet switches, ensuring separate data traffic paths. Configuration is simplified via easily accessible DIP-switches clearly labeled on the unit. The OmniConverter G/Sx supports a range of fiber connectors (ST, SC, LC) and SFP transceiver receptacles, accommodating multimode or single-mode fiber across various distances up to 140 km, including CWDM wavelengths for SFP models. Its compact design allows for flexible mounting options, including wall or DIN-rail mounting (with an optional clip). Power is supplied via DC input terminal connectors or external AC power adapters (100-240V).
