Samsung OM55N-DS is made to suit retailers and brands that want to take advantage of the storefront windows to create the greatest impact. The dual face design ensures that the same device can accomplish what used to need two displays, one outward-facing and the other inward-facing, and saves future installation, as well as power and space consumption. The 3000-nit of its outward brightness has made its visuals attention-grabbing even in high daylight. With 1000 nits on the indoor side, the content is comfortably visible without blistering lights.
It is operational 24 hours a day and has ambient light, internal temperature, and auto brightness sensors to provide a balance between performance and protection. Featuring a dust-resistant build (IP5X), the construct is designed to withstand the elements of the front of the window. The screen is based on Samsung's embedded media player (MagicInfo) on the Tizen operating system that enables administrators to deliver content and updates without any external boxes.
Interconnection is secure: two HDMI, USB, LAN, RS-232, and external sensors. Bezel design is standardized and has a minimalistic design to allow clean installations, such as the portrait orientation commonly employed in vertical signs or window sign installations.
Power consumption is also high (average of 357 W; peak of 500 W); therefore, consideration of power supply, ventilation, and cooling during installation should be given. It has the trade-off of having performance and visibility that are superb, but cost and thermal management need to be controlled.
